The “APIS Project – Emergency bathrooms for use following rain -related disasters ” was selected by the Program ” Academic Partners in Building and Construction : the future of sustainable cities and the built environment” and obtained support for  Research, Design and Construction development. The program is supported by Alcoa Foundation & Architecture for Humanity .

Thus, it was established an agreement with FAU-USP and Architecture for Humanity aiming to receive and transfer the grant funds which will be spent in three years in the project coordinated by PhD Professor Lara Leite Barbosa, from FAUUSP´s Project Department with the purpose of prototyping an emergency bathroom.

The design of the prototype of the bathroom inside a shipping container which  includes showers, toilets, skins and dressing areas separated by gender, will be tested in the city of Eldorado, São Paulo (recurrently affected by flooding) in order to attend the population sheltered in makeshift shelters in Brazil.
